They were no longer father and son, but mortal enemies - each out to destroy the other. Their eyes showed their hatred for one another.
She, Cieres, had often wondered why she had stayed locked to the realm to a blighted world that had once been lush with life, with love. She had wondered why she lost her daughter to heaven, why she couldn't be with her little girl, when there was nothing she could do for her living son, planetbound as she was. Now as she watched her son fight the beast that was his father, Cieres knew why. Her son needed her, needed the strength to defeat his father and to claim his true love.
It was Time.
Time to intervene.
"Fool boy..." Zarkon jeered. "You're not as you once were...Pity." Zarkon slashed at Lotor's throat, aiming for the jugular vein. By sheer luck or chance, the blade missed, although a thin line of blue blood appeared on Lotor's neck.
Zarkon taunted his son. "You're WEAK, Lotor! I'm doing the galaxy a favor by killing you! Soon the Alliance will be dead, and my new Empire will rise! Voltron will be MINE to do as I please! And your precious princess will be my body slave - totally devoted to my pleasure!"
"NNAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGHHHHHH!!" Lotor let out a feral cry, as slashed at Zarkon blindly - which the old tyrant had planned all along.
That's it, my imbelicle son...spend your rage as you grow weaker and weaker...I'll take your woman before your eyes as you -
"DIE!!" Zarkon spun to stab Lotor when suddenly he couldn't move!
NO ONE could move!
"I - don't - know...Prin - cessss...Everything has - stopped."
Allura sensed a familiar presence, but it wasn't her father!
"Allura, Child of Alfor of Arus...I am Cieres, the mother of Lotor, tied to this planet, Aden, just as your father, Alfor, has been to Arus."
"Yes. I feel your presence, but I don't understand..." Allura could speak, although everything else was still frozen in place.
"My son has done much wrong, but so have we all, if not in the flesh, then in the heart and the soul - the hidden part that no one sees but Yas'i'nacht, the most High."
"I - I don't understand." Allura stammered, "I mean,about Lotor. I just -"
"Saved him from himself, from his father. He loves you, my child, and you love him. You would not have risked so much for someone you hated."
Allura sighed. "Now what?"
Allura 'felt' Cieres 'smile' in her heart.
"Now I shall set things right. Goodbye, my daughter. may you and your beloved live well and happy...and name your firstborn after me...farewell..."
And then before Allura could utter another word...
Her baby's cry awakened her.
Had A Dream...Blind Faith:Epilogue:
"I'll get her." A male voice said. Allura felt the coverlet slip off their bed as her husband went to check on their daughter, Cierisa.
"Doodle, Foodle, Loo!" Lotor made faces at their baby as he held the small infant in his his massive arms. Cierisa smiled. Lotor claimed it was a smile, although Nanny claimed it was gas. In fact, Queen Allura expected Nanny to come in any moment, invading their privacy. You couldn't stop the woman. Lotor sometimes said he rather tangle with a roebeast than with Nanny.
Then Allura looked up with a slight frown at Lotor, puzzled.
"You had that dream again, didn't you?" Lotor sat down at the side of Allura's bed.
"Yes." Allura sighed. "Did it really happen, Lotor?"
"It did, my beloved." Lotor kissed Allura gently.
"And the Alliance?" She asked.
"Is now the Commonwealth, my lovely Queen of Arus. Which reminds me, we - and the VF have a meeting with Marshall Hawkins after breakfast. So, unless you'd like to - " Lotor waggled his eyebrows at her suggestively. "You best get around!"
"Oh you!" Allura giggled. "You're a sex fiend, Lotor!"
"Only for you, love, only for - OW!OW!OW! Cierissy! Not my ears!"
Allura giggled at Lotor's predicament.
"Ah HA!" Nanny burst into their room. "Dere's my lettle babushka!" she said, relieving Lotor of his small burden.
"Nanny, you know we don't mind caring for her." Lotor explained to Nanny.
"Ya, ya, ya...and you ar busy royal people! Dis ist my job - to take care of lettle royal princesses...now go on, I vill take care of my lettle Rissy-roo!" She cooed to the baby, who was now asleep on her ample busom.
From Beyond: A Promise Fulfilled
"Cierce."
"Yes."
"I have kept my promise to you - to keep them within. If I had not, the Alliance would have collasped completely and he would have been lost to me."
"You love him, don't you?"
"Cursed be my black heart, yes."
"I pity you."
"I wouldn't, Cierce. T'was I who told him where you fled to... Is Zarkon mine?"
"For all eternity and beyond, Hagar."
"For all eternity and beyond. May you be happy in his Curse..."
